This new post name came to while I was discussing new business with a colleague who is a plumber.
It started as a normal conversation then her began to ask
” How do I sell my self for years I have been just quoting and the work comes in but its now slowed down to a trickle”
Once we started to go into depth It was apparent that as the economy had slowed down the bigger companies were no moving into his work, and not just his.
I said to survive you have got top learn how to sell and compete in their market they have professional Salesmen who know their job and are good, I put aside some time to run through the fundamentals of selling so he can compete at their level.
It occurred to me that he is not alone and there must be thousands of very Good tradesmen who are suffering as he was,
I have now decided to put my normal sales training on hold and dedicate my site completely to this topic.

This letter is to explain what I hope top achieve, I am constantly told that a majority of salesmen after there initial training are left to their own devices.
It is a well knows fact that 20% of the sales team achieve 80% of the business.
So how do you break into the top section?
A good Sales Manager will give you all the help but most Companies have areas that the Company have wrote off the Salesman is just there to keep the Company brand going you are given lip service but no one take that are seriously, this may sound very negative but the next time the Sales league tables are issued check the bottom section and see how often the bottom changes.

Also you may be doing well but the Sales Manager spends more time with his high flyers.

Sales Closing The Assumption Close
The Assumption Close
For those who are not familiar with this technique it is very simple and also very effective.
To put this into practice practice all through your presentation you must continually assume that you will get the order, this is done with statements like this
When we delivery your order
When our Technician arrives
Would you like the order in one batch or in stages
I could go on with hundreds but the assumption close is what it states you assume that you have got the order, the buyer will begin to answer these questions and when you are happy with enough ask the final question
“Do I get the order No. from you “
or
” When you have signed the order when do you want your first delivery”
Its not that easy but its just another close in your armoury to use, it will work but you need to have more than one closing technique
